I am looking rent a flat but am confused of the procedure?

rent flat
I am looking for a flat to rent which is fine, but I don’t know what I am supposed to pay before I can move in. I know about an admin fee and a deposit but one of the agents said something about paying some of your first months rent up front then it comes off of your next payment or something like that. Can anyone please help to explain to me as it is my partner who is away that is paying and I need t explain to him fully.
Thank you

Different places call for different up-front payments. If you are paying a deposit and an admission fee plus first months rent, that means that however much your rent is, which is probably your deposit too, you will need to pay. So you will probably pay your first months rent times two, because of your depostit, plus your admission fee. With this, the deposit you should get back at the end of your lease. Your first month should be paid for with this as well. Hope this helps you!!!

Before you are handed the keys you will be required to pay - a months rent in advance, a security deposit, and any admin fee’s. Some agents take the whole payment at once, but most get you to pay admins fees first, then when all referencing is complete the day for move in pay first months rent and deposit.

    Hope this helps.
