How much to rent a flat in England?

rent flat
I’m interested in renting a flat in Bath for 4 months. Other than the monthly rent, how much should I expect to pay in other services? What is “Council Tax”? How much are utilities? (estimate of course) Thanks

In south england, the cheapest flats are usally 500 pounds. Council tax is the tax the state steals from everyone who dares to live under a roof :-( and in Bath it’s around 100 pounds, i think (a quarter less for a single person). Another 30 for water/gas/electr.
So it will be around 600.-
But be careful, many flats have a minimum lease of 6 months.

Council Tax is paid to the local council for services like emptying bins, cutting grass, police and firefighters, and general upkeep of the area. It should be about £100 per month and be sure to pay it as you can go to prisonfor non-payment in extreme cases.

A single bed flat in Bath can be anywhere between £550 and £1100 per calendar month [1], depending on location and position - you may have to pay a little more as most tenancy agreements are for 6 months, not 4.

Council Tax is the tax paid for the police, street lighting, having your bins emptied etc. a band D property in Bath will be about £1350 per year in Council Tax [2].

Service charge and ground rent will normally be paid for by the landlord of the property but you will be expected to cover the utilities (can’t help you with those, sorry).
