Not necessarily. It depends on a couple of things:
1. If your lease states that you forfeit the deposit if the lease is broken then you will not receive anything back
2. If your lease does not state this then the manager should be trying to rent out the apartment as soon as possible. Should he or she rent it before the end of the next month you should be entitled to the prorated portion of the rent.

Wave goodbye as you pull away for the last time. Probably not.

Nope, u may actually owe a month rent.
even month to month rent requires 30 day written notice to vacate in most states.

assuming you are on a month to month, then you fail to give adequate notice to terminate lease, therefore you owe the next month rent plain and simple, also i hope you took pictures when you move out to document against any claims the landlord may have for damage to the rental on top of month rent owed

Life is full of trade-offs. You traded your last month rent for the opportunity to move immediately into a great new place. Think, McFly, think.

No you will not.
30 days notice is given to allow the landlord time to find a new tenant and ensure the unit is ready.
The landlord will still need that time to find a new tenant, and to prepare the unit, whether you are in it or not. However you will be paying for that time.
