Are all 2007, 2008 BMW 3 series standard with run flat tires? Can the dealer put on non-run flats on a lease?

lease flat
I have heard terrible things about the run flats…high replacement cost, need for early replacement. I currently have a 05 3 series, lease ending in April and want conventional tires. Are all newer 3 series run flat standard? Will the dealer take them off and put conventional tires on for me for a lease vehicle?

Yes, the new ones come with the runflats. You may want to ask the dealer if its ok for your lease to do all that first.

  2. Sarah D Says:

Probably not. I did not get my tires replaced with run-flats and had to get them from a tire place. The dealership informed me that all they stock is run flats. I’m not sure what the rules are for leased vehicles. Run flats are a rip-off.

BMW switch from non-run flats to run flats on every new bmw car recently. true the avg cost for four new run flats can cost an avg. $2,000. Run flats have 1/2 the lifespan of regular tires and cost 4x more. but what you get in return is safety, value, and luxury for your money. you can also take the $2,000 and buy after market rims and tires for the same price and have them install on the BMW. BMW means luxury and value and thats what sets BMW apart from other cars. good luck

/ Yes, run-flat tires are standard.

At the end of the lease, if you purchase the car, your dealer will do whatever you want. They can change over to conventional tires if you wish.

Remember to add a spare tire.

I doubt the dealer will agree to you changing out the runflats to regular tires even though I understand why you’d be interested in getting regular tires for the sake of running the car for a couple more months. Go ahead and ask the dealer and see what they say.

Yes, all newer 3 series now come with runflats.

If you should decide to put on regular tires because you intend to buy the lease off in 2 months, I don’t think the dealer would mind as long as you inform them of your intentions. But you probably should get your tires from elsewhere such as Costco…etc. where they offer free lifetime road hazard warranty.

If you do not have any room in your trunk for a spare, you’ll need to have some kind of emergency puncture repair kit (like “Slime”) in the car and should also join AAA too.
