Arts and Crafts style furniture and Stickley furniture. Also the Shaker style is a favorite of mine. Oaks and maples and cherry are great looking woods for any type of furniture or decor. And I love clocks. Got ‘em everywhere and I’m still late ;-)

I love the paper illusion wallpaper. You just tear it, dip it in water, and stick it on the wall. You can”t mess it up. It also comes in different colors.

I love the plastic composite ceiling medallions. You can paint them to resemble gold leaf, rust, patina, copper or stone. They really make a focal point out of ordinary ceiling fans and they are inexpensive. I’m also a big fan of wrought iron, particularly when it is used in mixed media applications like with wood or wicker. You cannot go wrong with natural stones. I love the variations in marble, limestone, granite and travertine. They are classic.

In terms of manufacturers, I go for quality like Thomasville, Drexel Heritage, Hooker and even Restoration Hardware. There is a great catalog called Home Decorators which has unique, yet inexpensive, quality items.

Anything vintage, or one of a kind, that doesn’t scream “I came from Ikea, or Target” etc. Check out trendier consignment shops — I spend way too much time there. You can get such great deals, and some things don’t even need any fixing up. (Some do, but that can be fun, too!)
