You are talking of Eclectic style. An antique placed within a modern decor can have dramatic effects.
I used to say go to Sears to purchase a full house of same booooring style furniture. I am not sure that they still sell furniture.

You can do it easily, using a decorator.You see, there is always a solution. I did it in my house and the result is very beautiful. Then, consider that your house has to be nice in YOUR eyes and confortable just for you. Guests will come for a few hours and then will go away.
The only thing, according my opinion, is that you must have big rooms.
Why don’t you buy some journals in order to take some ideas?
